Honda's new sporty electric car Super-ONE tops 8,000 orders

Honda's new sporty electric microcar, the Super-ONE, has captured significant attention in Japan, with orders surpassing 8,000 since its launch last month. This overwhelming response has led to delivery wait times exceeding six months, underscoring the model's popularity.

The Super-ONE boasts a distinctive, lightweight, and dynamic design, featuring flared wheel arches that enhance its sporty stance. Inside, the car offers a tech-focused cockpit and newly designed sports seats, creating a unique cabin atmosphere. Despite Honda's recent adjustments to its broader EV development plans, the Super-ONE demonstrates the brand's potential in the electric vehicle sector.

Mechanically, the Super-ONE is equipped with a single-motor front-wheel-drive setup, delivering 64 horsepower. In BOOST mode, this increases to 94 horsepower. The vehicle also incorporates features like simulated gear shifts and an active sound control system, aiming to provide an engaging driving experience. Combined with its light curb weight of 1,090 kilograms, the Super-ONE is designed to offer spirited performance.

The strong reception of the Super-ONE suggests that despite a general slowdown in the electric vehicle market, there remains a robust demand for affordable, commuter-focused EVs.
