Honduran President travels to Germany for business, then Ukraine for cooperation

Honduran President Nasry Asfura has embarked on a European tour aimed at bolstering international cooperation and attracting investment. His itinerary includes Germany, where he will participate in the Second Berlin Climate Mobility Forum 2026 and engage with business leaders, and Ukraine, to deepen strategic partnerships.

In Germany, Asfura's agenda focuses on climate mobility and economic opportunities. He is set to attend the forum, which gathers heads of state and climate experts to discuss climate change challenges. The visit also includes meetings with representatives from the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (DIHK) to promote Honduras as an investment destination.

The Honduran government views its participation in Germany as particularly significant given the country's vulnerability to natural disasters like hurricanes, floods, and droughts. The agenda there emphasizes strengthening cooperation in climate adaptation, risk prevention, resilient infrastructure, and community protection.

Following his engagements in Germany, President Asfura will travel to Ukraine. There, he is scheduled to meet with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to explore cooperation in key strategic sectors. These include food security, agricultural modernization, technological innovation, energy, infrastructure, higher education, and economic development. The visit aims to establish a Political Consultations Mechanism and a Honduras-Ukraine 2026-2030 Roadmap to guide bilateral cooperation.
