Honduras seizes cocaine bundles and arrests five Colombians and six Hondurans

Honduran authorities seized at least 17 bundles of cocaine in the Caribbean and arrested 11 people, including five Colombians and six Hondurans, the country's armed forces said.

The operation took place about 30 nautical miles north of the Patuca river mouth. Officials intercepted the Honduran-flagged shrimp-fishing vessel Miss Celeste and a speedboat during the operation.

The detainees and the seized drugs were taken to the Caratasca Naval Base in the Caribbean department of Gracias a Dios, where they were to be handed over to the relevant judicial authorities.

Naval Force personnel carried out the operation with Honduras's Technical Investigation Agency and the Special Prosecutor's Office Against Organized Crime. The armed forces said officers continued inspections at sea after finding additional bundles of suspected drugs that had been thrown overboard during the escape.

Honduran authorities have seized more than three tonnes of cocaine in operations across the Caribbean and in the country's northern and southern regions so far in 2026.
