Honduras welcomes new group of Japanese JICA volunteers

Honduras has welcomed a new group of seven Japanese volunteers from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). These volunteers will dedicate two years to supporting various sectors within the country, including nutrition, education, rural development, physical therapy, and archaeology.

The mission is made up of seven Japanese volunteers who will perform cooperation work in Honduras for two years, providing support in the areas of nutrition, education, rural development, physical therapy, as well as in archaeology.

Sub-secretary of Foreign Policy, Ambassador Pamela Handal Rivera, officially welcomed the Japanese contingent. She emphasized their goal to share knowledge and strengthen cooperation between Honduras and Japan. The program, which began in 1976, is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, underscoring a solid and historic relationship.

JICA volunteers are known for their hands-on approach, working closely with and living among the communities to which they are assigned. Handal expressed deep gratitude to the people and government of Japan for their unwavering solidarity and support, noting that this cooperation transcends technical assistance to build true bonds of brotherhood between the two nations. She also acknowledged the positive impact of the volunteers' service and commitment on Honduran communities.
