Horațiu Moldovan Changes Teams, Completes Medical at New Club

Romanian goalkeeper Horațiu Moldovan is set to continue his football career in Turkey, having undergone a medical examination with Eyüpspor. The 28-year-old has reached an agreement with the club, which finished 15th in the Turkish Super Lig last season.

Following a less successful loan spell at Oviedo, where he made only three appearances, Moldovan is embarking on a new challenge. Eyüpspor's management and Atlético Madrid, his parent club, have agreed on terms. The exact nature of the transfer, whether a loan or a permanent deal, remains unclear, but Moldovan is still contracted to Atlético Madrid until the summer of 2028.

Since his transfer from Rapid Bucharest to Atlético Madrid in January 2024 for €800,000, Moldovan has not made a senior appearance for the Spanish giants, remaining in the shadow of Jan Oblak. He was loaned to Sassuolo, where he was a starter and helped the team gain promotion to Serie A, before his stint at Oviedo.

Moldovan has represented Romania 16 times internationally. He hopes that his move to Turkey will provide him with consistent playing time, enabling him to revive his career and potentially earn a recall to the national squad. Since leaving Rapid, he has played 30 club matches without featuring for Atlético Madrid.
