Hot water to be cut off for almost a month in Taldykorgan amid heatwave

Residents of Taldykorgan, Kazakhstan, are facing a prolonged disruption to their hot water supply as temperatures soar above 40 degrees Celsius. The city's hot water services will be suspended for nearly a month, from July 20 to August 17, 2026, according to the Taldykorgan Akimat (city administration).

The shutdown is attributed to scheduled maintenance and preventive repairs at the Baskuat boiler plant and its thermal networks. The plant, which was commissioned in 1980, suffers from significant infrastructure wear exceeding 72 percent. TaldykorganTeploService, the local utility provider, conducts annual maintenance to prepare for the upcoming heating season.

Due to scheduled maintenance and preventive repairs at the Baskuat boiler plant and thermal networks, the hot water supply across the city will be temporarily suspended from July 20 to August 17, 2026.

The repairs will affect a substantial portion of the city's consumers, leaving 835 apartment buildings, 210 public institutions, 1,322 private residential houses, and 1,322 other consumers without hot water. Abzal Zhagyparov, Director of KGP TaldykorganTeploService, explained that the maintenance involves work on primary equipment and the replacement of worn-out components.

Zhagyparov stated that these measures are crucial to prevent emergency situations during the winter and ensure a reliable heat supply for residents. The company has requested the public's understanding for the temporary inconvenience caused by these essential repairs.
