Hot weather grips Taiwan, with highs up to 36°C; Typhoon 'White Dolphin' to affect region Friday

Much of Taiwan will experience hot and muggy conditions with highs reaching 32 to 35 degrees Celsius on Tuesday. Localized temperatures could climb above 36 degrees in Taipei, Changhua, and Hualien. Residents are advised to stay hydrated and use sun protection when outdoors. Lows are expected to be around 26 to 27 degrees.

Air quality is forecast to be "good" in the Hsinchu-Miaoli, Yunlin-Chiayi, Yilan, and Taitung-Hualien regions, as well as Matsu, Kinmen, and Penghu. The northern, central, and Kaohsiung-Pingtung regions will have "ordinary" air quality.

From Wednesday to Thursday, Taiwan will be under the influence of a broad low-pressure system with a northeasterly wind. Increased moisture is expected, with scattered showers possible in Keelung, northern mountainous areas, southern regions, Taitung, Hualien, and central mountainous areas. Rain is forecast to become more widespread on Wednesday and Thursday, with localized heavy downpours possible in mountainous areas.

By Friday and Saturday, the outer clouds of Typhoon "White Dolphin," located near the waters of Ryukyu, are expected to affect Taiwan. Northern regions may see localized showers on Friday, with scattered showers in central and southern areas. Saturday is expected to bring more significant rainfall. Temperatures are expected to remain relatively stable throughout the week, with highs between 32 and 35 degrees Celsius and lows between 25 and 28 degrees.
