House fire in Ho Chi Minh City kills father and son; thick smoke prevented rescue

A devastating house fire in Ho Chi Minh City on the morning of August 6th claimed the lives of a father and his young son. The blaze, which broke out in the early hours on Nguyen Van Dau Street in Binh Loi Trung Ward, quickly engulfed the residence, making rescue efforts by neighbors impossible.

Witnesses described the scene as being filled with thick, suffocating smoke, preventing anyone from entering the house to help. "The smoke was so suffocating, people didn't have gas masks, so no one dared to go deep inside. Only the professional forces could enter," a neighbor recounted. The fire reportedly started in the kitchen area of the two-story house, which had a total usable area of approximately 122 square meters.

Authorities reported that three people were inside the home when the fire began. One individual managed to escape the inferno safely. Emergency services, including the Fire Prevention and Fighting Police and Rescue forces, were dispatched to the scene. They were able to access the house and rescue two people who were trapped inside.

Despite the swift rescue efforts, the father, identified as N.T.T. (40 years old), and his son, N.H.T.A. (12 years old), were rushed to the hospital but were pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Ho Chi Minh City Police in coordination with the Binh Loi Trung Ward Police. The fire damaged about 20 square meters of the house.
