One Body Found in Search for Missing Fishermen Off Phu Quoc

Vietnamese naval forces and border guards have recovered one body believed to be among two fishermen who fell into the sea near Phu Quoc island. The discovery was made on August 4, 2026, after a search operation involving naval vessels and local fishing boats.

The recovered body, identified as likely the captain and owner of the fishing vessel AG-62009 TS, was found approximately 3.7 nautical miles southwest of Cape Dat Do. The body was brought ashore and handed over to authorities for identification and further investigation.

Authorities are continuing the search for the second fisherman. The incident came to light on August 3, 2026, when the fishing vessel AG-62009 TS was reported to be circling without a captain. Fishermen nearby approached the vessel and found it unmanned, suspecting the two individuals on board had fallen overboard, possibly entangled in fishing nets.

The Naval Region 5 Command is coordinating with the An Thoi Port Border Guard Station and local fishermen to locate the missing individual.
