Houthi Attack Kills Three Crew Members on Red Sea Ship, Yemeni Media Reports

A commercial ship was struck by a missile near the Bab al-Mandeb Strait in the southern Red Sea, resulting in the deaths of three crew members. The pro-government Yemeni television channel Al Yumhuriya reported the attack, identifying the deceased as two Pakistanis and one Indonesian.

The channel, aligned with the National Resistance Forces, stated the vessel was commercial but did not disclose its name or nationality. The Houthi rebels, who are backed by Iran, have not yet confirmed their involvement in the alleged attack. Yemeni government sources are reportedly working to verify the incident.

This attack follows a separate report of Houthi rebels launching five ballistic missiles and several drones at the port of Mocha late Monday and early Tuesday. No casualties were reported from the port attack. These incidents are part of a broader escalation of conflict in Yemen, marking the most severe since 2022 between the Houthi movement and government forces, which are supported by a coalition led by Saudi Arabia since 2015.
