Houthi Leader Escalates Rhetoric Against US, Israel, Threatens Somalia Intervention

Houthi leader Abdul Malik al-Houthi has escalated his political and military rhetoric, issuing threats against Israel and the United States while signaling a willingness to join Iran in future regional conflicts. These pronouncements coincide with an intensified internal mobilization campaign, including mass recruitment, ahead of the Ashura commemorations.

The group's leader, in a televised address, reiterated the Houthis' "unwavering position" toward the U.S. and Israel, pledging continued coordination with the "Axis of Resistance." He also affirmed the group's readiness to escalate involvement, particularly concerning the Gaza Strip or other regional fronts. Al-Houthi congratulated Iran on its recent confrontation with Israel, framing it as a victory for the entire "Axis of Resistance," underscoring the Houthis' alignment with the Tehran-led alliance.

Beyond the immediate conflicts, al-Houthi extended his warnings to the Horn of Africa. He voiced concerns about alleged Israeli efforts to establish a presence in Somaliland, aiming to control the Gulf of Aden, Bab al-Mandab Strait, and Red Sea. The Houthi leader threatened to target any potential Israeli presence in the region "by all available means" and urged Red Sea littoral states to unite against such a development, thereby broadening the group's military posturing beyond Yemen's borders.

Simultaneously, the Houthis have ramped up internal mobilization efforts. Large-scale events are being organized in Sanaa and other controlled areas. Reports indicate that Houthi supervisors are conducting field campaigns in neighborhoods, government institutions, and educational facilities, compelling residents, employees, and students to attend. Attendance lists are reportedly being compiled, with many participants attending under duress, fearing repercussions or harassment. The group is also utilizing loudspeakers to amplify its messages during these events.
