The Nigerian Law School has confirmed the death of Faith Alayande, a 23-year-old student, who fell from the rooftop of a hostel at its Lagos Campus. Alayande, a student at the Enugu Campus, was temporarily residing in the Lagos Campus hostel for an externship program in the state.

Preliminary information indicates that, at about 4:00 am on Friday, 7 August 2026, the student fell from the rooftop of the hostel at the Campus and, sadly, succumbed to the incident.

The institution stated that the incident happened around 4 a.m. on Friday, August 7, 2026. Management is working closely with relevant authorities and Alayande's family to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the fall. The Law School expressed its grief and extended condolences to the deceased's family and colleagues. "The Management extends its deepest condolences and sympathy to the family, colleagues and all those affected by this distressing incident. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this difficult time," the statement added.

The institution also appealed for privacy for the grieving family, who have requested space to mourn their loss. The Lagos State Police Command reported that the hostel matron initially reported the case after Alayande was found unresponsive. Police visited the scene, moved the body to a morgue, and initiated an investigation. Earlier reports suggested a hostel mate and a relative discovered a suicide note and began searching for Alayande before she was found following the fall.
