How I escaped from DSS operatives sent to my house in 2021 — Sunday Igboho

Yoruba Nation activist Sunday Adeyemo, known as Sunday Igboho, has detailed his evasion of Department of State Services operatives during a 2021 raid on his Ibadan home. He claims the security forces surrounded his residence in the early hours of July 1, 2021, and were unable to apprehend him despite their efforts.

Igboho recounted that the operatives began shooting when they heard his voice, and later forced entry into his house after planting dynamite on the burglary. He stated he was inside the entire time, even as operatives searched the premises. He described how the operatives allegedly mistook a cat for him and killed it, and brought in a "fake herbalist" to perform rituals in an attempt to find him.

I didn’t turn into a cat. They even killed it, thinking it was me. They even brought a fake herbalist who was just making an incantation and performing a ritual. I was in the house watching them, but they didn’t see me.

Dismissing rumors that he turned into a cat to escape, Igboho asserted his presence within the house. He also mentioned that the operatives shot his partially blind brother, mistaking him for an attacker, and took away the corpses as evidence of their raid. Igboho credited his escape to divine intervention and prayers offered by Muslim clerics in his home.
