How Much Will Retirement Pensions Increase in July 2026?

Turkish retirees are awaiting news on their upcoming pension adjustments, which are tied to inflation rates. According to Law No. 5510, pension amounts for Bağ-Kur and SSK beneficiaries are adjusted every January and July based on the consumer price index changes over the preceding six months.

The latest data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) for May 2026 indicates a significant inflation trend. The general consumer price index saw a 1.71% increase from the previous month, a 16.61% rise compared to the same month last year, and a cumulative 16.60% increase over the first five months of 2026. This five-month figure already surpasses the government's initial annual inflation target of 16% for 2026.

Adding to the uncertainty, several financial institutions have revised their inflation forecasts for Turkey. The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (TCMB) raised its year-end inflation estimate from 16% to 24%. International bodies like the IMF and rating agencies such as S&P Global Ratings and Fitch Ratings also project higher average inflation rates for 2026, ranging from 23.4% to 28.9%. These upward revisions suggest that the actual pension increases for SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees in July 2026 could be substantial, potentially exceeding initial expectations based on the OVP's targets.
