How soldiers intercepted suspected terrorists’ supplies, arrested five

Nigerian troops have disrupted a suspected terrorist logistics network in Borno State, arresting five individuals transporting medical supplies and electronics. The operation, conducted by troops of the 112 Task Force Battalion, intercepted the suspects in Mafa Local Government Area.

The suspects were intercepted while transporting 491 cartons of Albe Stark 2.5 per cent dewormer and 100 cartons of multivitamin injections for animals without the requisite waybill or supporting documentation.

The suspects were found with 491 cartons of Albe Stark dewormer, 100 cartons of multivitamin injections, and various other concealed medical supplies. They were also carrying 30 LG plasma televisions, 152 empty Bagco sacks, and seven mobile phones. Preliminary investigations indicated the consignment was destined for a vendor in N’Djamena, Chad Republic, with plans to trans-load some items near the Nigeria-Chad border to evade security checks.

Troops also recovered 30 units of 80-inch LG plasma televisions, 152 empty Bagco sacks, and seven mobile phones.

Captain Muhammed Goni, Acting Military Information Officer for the Northeast Joint Taskforce Operation Hadin Kai, stated that the interception represents a significant breakthrough in dismantling terrorist support networks. He emphasized that by disrupting these supply chains, troops deny terrorist elements the resources needed to sustain their activities, thereby degrading their operational capability and restricting their freedom of action.

The suspects are currently in the custody of 24 Task Force Brigade for further investigations

The military reassured the public of their continued resolve to identify and dismantle networks supporting terrorists. They advised pharmaceutical distributors, transporters, healthcare providers, and humanitarian organizations to ensure all consignments are properly documented and coordinated with relevant authorities.
