A brutal femicide has shaken the Villa Devoto neighborhood after Walter Verón allegedly stabbed his partner, Romina María de los Ángeles Calvo, to death. The horrific attack unfolded in their shared home, with the couple's 8-year-old daughter reportedly witnessing the violence and desperately seeking help from her older brother.

Judicial detectives believe Verón, 57, may have been contemplating suicide, having written a farewell letter to his children days prior. However, his alleged actions took a violent turn, resulting in Calvo's death. He then reportedly attempted to end his own life, sustaining serious injuries and is now in critical condition under police guard at a hospital.

This is not the first instance of violence in the relationship. Verón had a suspended sentence from 2017 for assaulting Calvo, the same victim he is now accused of murdering. The couple shared the home with two of their three children, including the young daughter who witnessed the fatal assault.

Shortly after Verón entered the room, the girl, desperate, ran out. She witnessed the attack. She went to find her brother, who called the emergency number 911.

Security camera footage from the residence captured Verón's movements before and after the attack, though not the stabbing itself within the bedroom. The sequence shows Verón leaving and re-entering the home before Calvo was attacked. The young daughter, awakened by the commotion, fled the room in distress and alerted her 21-year-old brother, who then called emergency services.

The murder weapon is believed to be a "butcher's knife." Following the attack, Verón inflicted a neck wound on himself and fled the scene. He was apprehended by police approximately 200 meters away, seriously injured. The investigation is ongoing, with a judge awaiting autopsy results to determine the precise details of the attack.
