How to check 2026 WAEC results online

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released the results for the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) and provided a comprehensive guide for candidates on how to check their performance. The announcement, made on WAEC's official X handle, directs candidates to generate or recover their result checker PIN and serial number before accessing their results online.

For first-time checkers, the process involves obtaining a Serial Number and PIN. Candidates can recover these by visiting waec.org, navigating to the "Serial Number and PIN" menu, and selecting the 2026 examination year and diet. They must then enter their examination number and National Identification Number (NIN) used during registration, followed by their email address and phone number to receive a One-Time Password (OTP). Upon entering the OTP, candidates can recover their Serial Number and PIN. WAEC also allows candidates to download their WAEC ID card to their mobile devices through the portal.

Once the PIN and Serial Number are secured, candidates proceed to the WAEC result portal at waecdirect.org. Here, they must enter their 10-digit examination number (comprising a 7-digit center number and a 3-digit candidate number), select the examination year (2026), the examination type, and then input the obtained Serial Number and PIN. After submitting these details, their results will be displayed and can be printed or saved.

WAEC also offers alternative methods for checking results. Candidates can utilize the WAEC Result Checker app, available on the Google Play Store, by entering their examination number, year, Serial Number, and PIN. For individuals without internet access, results can be checked via SMS by typing "WAECExaminationNumberPIN*ExaminationYear" and sending it to the official WAEC SMS number. Standard SMS charges apply. The guide also briefly explains WAEC's grading system, from A1 (Distinction) to F9 (Fail), noting that most Nigerian universities require at least five credit passes, including English Language and Mathematics, with a minimum grade of C6.
