How to check your polling station for Ecuador’s local elections

Ecuadorians eligible to vote in the Nov. 29, 2026 local elections can now check online where they must cast their ballots. The National Electoral Council, or CNE, has enabled a platform that displays each voter’s assigned polling station and electoral district.

To access the information, voters must enter their identity card number and date of birth. The system also indicates whether a person was selected to serve on a Junta Receptora del Voto, the polling station body responsible for setting up the station, receiving ballots, counting votes and sending electoral materials.

The CNE selected 288,949 people for those duties. It recommends that voters review their information before election day so they know both their polling location and their assigned electoral district.

A total of 13,827,643 voters are expected to participate. The election will choose 5,749 principal officials for the 2027-2031 term: 23 prefects and vice prefects, 222 mayors, 909 urban councilors, 457 rural councilors, 4,131 principal members of rural parish councils and seven members of the Council for Citizen Participation and Social Control.

Ballots will use different colors for each office. Each polling station will have two ballot boxes, a white one for local authorities and a brown one for candidates to the participation council. The deadline to change electoral residence for this election was April 17, 2026. Requests submitted after that date will apply only to later elections.
