How to Pay for Parking Meters From Your Cell Phone in Mexico City

Mexico City residents can now pay for street parking using their smartphones through the ecoParq system, operated by the Secretariat of Mobility (Semovi). This digital payment option aims to streamline the process and reduce the need for cash.

The system utilizes several mobile applications, including Mueve Ciudad, Parkum, and Blinkay, which are available for both iOS and Android devices. However, it's crucial for drivers to note that these apps do not cover all parking zones within the city. Specifically, the Juárez and Cuauhtémoc neighborhoods operate under a different regulatory system managed by Servicios Metropolitanos (SERVIMET) and Operadora de Estacionamientos Viales (OPEVSA).

To use the mobile payment system, drivers must download the specific app associated with the parking zone where they have left their vehicle. The current rate is $3.40 Mexican pesos for every 15 minutes. Users need to register their car details, link a debit or credit card, and add funds to their in-app balance. The app then allows them to select their vehicle, choose the parking duration, and confirm the payment, notifying them of the remaining time. Payments can be extended through the app, and the system automatically deducts the cost upon completion of the parking session.
