HP seeks to improve workplace productivity and well-being beyond hardware

HP is trying to redefine the corporate computer around productivity and employee well-being, not just technical specifications. At its Customer Welcome Center, described as the only facility of its kind in Latin America, the company presented tools shaped by the expanding role of artificial intelligence at work.

The company cited its Work Relationship Index, which found that only 27% of knowledge workers in Mexico report a healthy relationship with their employment. At the same time, 79% said they trust technology to improve their working environment. HP used those figures to frame a broader shift in how businesses choose and manage technology.

Running AI applications in corporate settings requires changes to infrastructure. HP highlighted a move from some cloud services toward local processing at the edge. Integrated GPUs can handle real-time data processing locally, reducing latency and potentially lowering costs associated with token use in external services.

HP also argued that IT support teams should move beyond a machine-centered approach and focus more on interaction with users. Agnostic monitoring platforms can combine workers’ perceptions of their devices with network performance and memory-use data. Monitoring devices from different brands in one system can then support financial decisions about hardware replacement.

Executives said everyday AI use has increased processing demands in traditional administrative roles. High-performance workstations can automate complex logistics analysis and run physical simulations of manufacturing processes more quickly, potentially saving development hours and reducing operating costs. For flexible offices, HP presented a keyboard-shaped all-in-one device weighing 700 grams, with a neural processing unit for native AI processing. Its hybrid collaboration systems also use algorithms to cancel external noise and adjust video framing dynamically for remote workers.
