Hsinchu Councilor Urges Expansion of Full High Schools, Tsing Hua Affiliation for Chienkung

Hsinchu City Councilor Liu Yen-ling has called on the city government to address the insufficient capacity of high schools. During a city council session, Liu highlighted a 2023 plan to expand high school options, which included establishing Chienkung High School as an independent institution and transforming three junior high schools, Chienhua, Hsinchu, and Hulin, into full high schools.

However, three years after the plan's announcement, only Chienhua Junior High School is slated for conversion next year. Liu emphasized that the city, particularly the area requiring the most expansion, has seen minimal progress on these crucial educational initiatives. The councilor stressed the urgent need for more full high schools to meet the growing demand for secondary education.

Liu specifically proposed evaluating the conversion of Chienkung High School into an affiliated school of Tsing Hua University.
