Hualien City to Host Dragon Boat World Cup Opening with Grand Parade

Hualien City is preparing to host the opening ceremony and a vibrant street parade for the 15th IDBF World Club Crew Championship (CCWC) on August 31st. This prestigious event, often referred to as the "World Cup of Dragon Boating," will take place over nine days at Liyu Lake.

Nearly 6,000 athletes from 158 clubs representing 21 countries and regions are participating in the championship. The opening festivities will commence with a grand parade starting at Rihui Avenue, proceeding along Zhonghua Road, and culminating with the opening ceremony and evening gala at the parking lot opposite the "Stone Comes to Life" plaza, near the Dongdamen Night Market.

To ensure the smooth execution of the parade and opening ceremony, Hualien police will implement significant traffic control measures. Key roads, including Zhongshan Road and parts of Rihui Avenue, will be closed to traffic at various times on August 31st. Spectators are advised to be aware of these restrictions and plan accordingly.

The event highlights Hualien's capacity to host international sporting competitions and showcases the growing global interest in dragon boat racing. The participation of numerous international teams underscores the championship's significance in the dragon boat community.
