Hualien Port section of two-潭 bicycle path closed until year-end for pipeline construction

A significant section of the popular two-潭 (QiXingTan and LiYuTan) bicycle path in Hualien, Taiwan, will be closed to the public until the end of the year. The closure affects the segment near Hualien Port and is necessary to accommodate pipeline construction by CPC Corporation, Taiwan's state-owned oil and gas company.

Cyclists and other users of the scenic coastal route are urged to adhere to detour signs and follow the directions of traffic personnel managing the area. The affected section runs between the "Landscape Bridge" and "Hualien Port Discharge Co., Ltd." The Hualien County Government's Tourism Department has provided alternative routes for those traveling north towards QiXingTan or south towards Hualien City, directing them through the Hualien Port recreational pier.

CPC Corporation has installed traffic signs, guidance markers, and warning facilities at key intersections along the detour routes to ensure smooth navigation. Yu Ming-hsun, Director of the Tourism Department, emphasized the importance of the two-潭 bicycle path, which connects popular attractions like QiXingTan and Hualien Port, as a vital tourism corridor and a cherished recreational spot for locals and visitors alike.

This pipeline construction is one of several ongoing projects impacting the bicycle path. Separately, work is underway to optimize the route, including the construction of a steel structure bridge and a new road near SiBa high ground. This specific project is anticipated to be completed by the end of October, promising improved access to the high ground for cyclists who previously had to dismount and push their bikes uphill.

The two-潭 bicycle path, with a history of over 20 years, spans approximately 33 kilometers and offers stunning mountain and sea views, making it a key attraction in Hualien's tourism landscape.
