Huang Yu-hsun wins second national badminton title, eyes Asian Games and top 20 ranking

Huang Yu-hsun clinched her second national badminton ranking title, defeating Wang Pei-yu in the women's singles final of the second national ranking tournament. The victory marks a significant step as Huang prepares for the upcoming Asian Games.

The venue for the second ranking tournament was the Red Hall, which is very familiar to me. I've played here since I was a child, so I'm more adapted to the court and don't need to spend as much effort on adjustments, allowing me to focus more on tactical application.

In a rematch of a previous encounter where Wang Pei-yu had emerged victorious, Huang Yu-hsun secured the first game with a 21-18 scoreline. She maintained her momentum in the second game, winning 21-15 to claim the championship. Huang noted that the familiar environment of the stadium, where she has played since childhood, allowed her to focus more on tactical execution rather than court adaptation.

Huang credited her recent improvements to the rigorous training within the national team, particularly the competitive environment fostered by training partners like Chiu Pin-chien, Lin Hsiang-ti, and her roommate Song Shuo-yun. Under the guidance of coach Lai Chien-cheng, her confidence has grown significantly.

With her world ranking on the rise, Huang has gained opportunities to compete in higher-level tournaments. She observes that top players can rapidly adjust their strategies, a skill she aims to emulate to avoid being disrupted by opponents' tempo changes. Looking ahead, Huang will participate in the team event at the Nagoya Asian Games in September. Her long-term aspirations include consistently maintaining a high world ranking and breaking into the top 20 by the end of the year.
