Huawei announces Watch 6 and Watch 6 Pro series

Huawei has unveiled its next-generation Watch 6 and Watch 6 Pro smartwatches, offering different case sizes, brighter displays and expanded health and gesture features.

The standard Watch 6 comes in 42 mm and 46 mm versions, while the Pro model is available in 43 mm and 46 mm cases. The 42 mm Watch 6 weighs 38 grams without its strap, making it the lightest model in the series. Huawei uses aluminum alloy and stainless steel for the Watch 6, while selected Watch 6 Pro versions use titanium and ceramic.

Both watches have LTPO OLED touchscreens covered with artificial sapphire glass. The Watch 6 reaches a maximum brightness of 3,000 nits, compared with up to 3,500 nits on the Watch 6 Pro. Both models support eSIM connectivity and can connect to two phones running iOS or Android.

Huawei has added a wrist gesture for quickly silencing incoming calls and alarms. Double-tap, double-slide and pinch gestures can answer calls and control functions such as taking photos with a connected phone. The X-Tap sensor, absent from Huawei's previous smartwatch series, also returns and brings the number of supported health measurements to 14. The watches support more than 100 sports modes.

Battery life reaches three days in normal use for the 42 mm and 43 mm models, or up to seven days with power-saving mode. The 46 mm versions last 4.5 days normally and up to 11 days in power-saving mode. The Watch 6 starts at 399.99 euros, while the Watch 6 Pro starts at 599.99 euros. Both go on sale Sept. 23. Huawei is also making the Watch GT 7 and GT 7 Pro available outside China.
