Hue police chief appointed deputy inspector general of Vietnam’s government inspectorate

Hue City Police Director Nguyen Thanh Tuan has been appointed deputy inspector general of Vietnam’s Government Inspectorate in a group of senior government appointments signed by Prime Minister Le Minh Hung.

The decisions also named three deputy ministers. Tran Trung Tinh, president of Can Tho University from December 2023 to May 2026, will become deputy minister of science and technology. A professor in electrical engineering, he previously served as the university’s vice president and led its electrical engineering department and technology faculty.

Le Trong Yen, vice chairman of Lam Dong province, will become deputy minister of agriculture and environment. He holds a doctorate in land management and previously held senior positions in Dak Nong, including director of the provincial departments of agriculture and rural development and natural resources and environment, as well as vice chairman of the provincial government. Those roles came before Lam Dong, Dak Nong and Binh Thuan were merged into the current Lam Dong province.

Nguyen Viet Son, head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s Department of Oil and Coal, was appointed deputy minister of industry and trade. He has more than 30 years of experience in energy and petroleum and has worked on sector strategies, planning, regulations and major energy projects. His previous posts included deputy head of the former General Department of Energy and director of the department responsible for oil and coal.

Nguyen Thanh Tuan has held positions from local police units to the Ministry of Public Security and served as deputy secretary and secretary of the ministry’s youth union. He became deputy director of Thua Thien Hue police in January 2018 before leading Hue City Police.

Pham Thanh Ngai, chairman of Dong Thap province, was also appointed deputy inspector general. He previously served in several positions in Ca Mau, including provincial party secretary, standing deputy secretary and chairman of the provincial government. In November 2025, the Party Central Secretariat appointed him deputy secretary of Dong Thap’s provincial Party Committee, after which the provincial People’s Council elected him chairman.
