Vietnamese Deputy Chief of General Staff Le Quang Dao Promoted to Senior Lieutenant General

Vietnamese Party General Secretary and President To Lam presented Le Quang Dao with a promotion to senior lieutenant general at a ceremony on Sept. 4. Dao serves as deputy chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army.

To Lam said Dao had received thorough training and risen through grassroots military units. He praised Dao’s political resolve, disciplined working methods and close engagement, as well as his ability to analyze, assess, forecast and handle practical challenges.

To Lam described the promotion as recognition by the Party, the state and the people of Dao’s efforts and contributions to building the army, strengthening national defense and protecting the country. He also assigned Dao greater responsibility alongside the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense and the General Staff.

To Lam urged him to maintain his ethics and political resolve, remain loyal to the Party, the nation and the people, and continue developing strategic thinking and the quality of military and defense research and advice. He said Dao should help ensure that defense situations were handled promptly and effectively.

Dao said he remained absolutely loyal to the Party, the nation and the people. He pledged to uphold the ideals of Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh Thought, continue studying and practicing Ho Chi Minh’s principles and preserve the qualities associated with “Uncle Ho’s Soldiers.”
