Hue tourism authorities probe boat crew for dumping trash into Huong River

Hue City's Department of Tourism has launched an investigation into a tourist dragon boat crew accused of discarding beer cans and plastic bottles into the iconic Huong River. The incident came to light after a tourist recorded a video showing individuals on the boat throwing trash overboard after a tour. The footage quickly circulated on social media, sparking public outrage and calls for action.

Authorities promptly summoned the boat owner, identified as Mr. N.V.L., for questioning. During the meeting, Mr. L. acknowledged that the actions depicted in the video were true and that his staff were responsible. He admitted that this behavior violated environmental protection regulations and negatively impacted the scenic beauty and tourism environment of Hue, a city renowned for its cultural heritage.

Mr. L. has signed a commitment to immediately address the conduct of his employees and ensure that such pollution of the Huong River does not happen again. He also pledged to implement proper waste collection and sorting procedures.
