Hugo Guillamón set to join Real Sporting

Spanish midfielder Hugo Guillamón is on his way to Gijón to complete a transfer to Real Sporting, a club competing in Spain's Second Division. The move is expected to be finalized after the player successfully passes his medical examination and signs his contract at Sporting's Mareo facilities.

Guillamón, who developed in Valencia's youth academy and has represented the Spanish national team, joins Sporting permanently after mutually agreeing to terminate his contract with Croatian side Hajduk Split. The Croatian club, managed by Spaniard Gonzalo García, confirmed the player's departure, paving the way for his arrival in Gijón to bolster the midfield under Argentine coach Nicolás Larcamón.

This transfer concludes a negotiation process that spanned several weeks. Sporting emerged as the most determined club pursuing the midfielder, fending off interest from other clubs in Eastern Europe and Portugal's top division. Despite the interest, Sporting proceeded cautiously, mindful of potential offers from top-tier clubs where Guillamón spent most of his career, playing 146 matches for Valencia.

The acquisition of Guillamón addresses Sporting's strategic priority to reinforce their midfield for the 2026-27 season. The 26-year-old is poised to become the club's seventh signing of the summer, as they continue to assemble their squad in the final weeks of the transfer market.
