Human remains found near Nancy Guthrie's home not related to investigation, sheriff department says

Human remains discovered near the residence of Savannah Guthrie's mother have been declared unrelated to the ongoing investigation into her disappearance, according to Arizona's Pima County Sheriff's Department. The announcement on Monday offered no details on who found the remains, when they were located, or why the department initially specified they were not connected to Nancy Guthrie's vanishing.

Nancy Guthrie, the "Today" show co-host's mother, has been missing for over a week. Six months after her disappearance, two ransom notes allegedly from her abductors were released earlier this month. The Pima County Sheriff's Department shared copies of these emails online, appealing for public help to identify a masked person captured on Nancy Guthrie's doorbell camera near her home around the time she went missing.

Guthrie, described as frail with limited mobility, was last seen at her Tucson home on January 31. A friend reported her missing on February 1 after she failed to attend Sunday church services.
