Hundreds in Potsdam commemorate victims of CSD attack

Several hundred people gathered in Potsdam, Germany, to honor the victims of a recent attack that occurred on the sidelines of a Christopher Street Day (CSD) event in Berlin. Police estimated the crowd at approximately 500 participants who came together to express solidarity and remembrance.

Attendees carried rainbow flags and banners advocating for diversity and tolerance. Many laid flowers at a large banner placed in front of the Nikolaikirche, creating a poignant memorial. Among those present were Potsdam's Mayor Noosha Aubel and Brandenburg's Social Affairs Minister René Wilke, underscoring the event's significance.

During the gathering, police reported a minor incident involving a disruption. Officers separated an individual, described as an AfD-affiliated YouTuber, from other attendees after a verbal dispute erupted. A police spokesperson stated that the YouTuber's provocative behavior led to the intervention, and he was escorted away, though he remained in the vicinity. Demonstrators were heard chanting "Nazis raus" (Nazis out).

The commemoration highlighted the community's response to the violence, emphasizing values of acceptance and unity in the face of an attack targeting a celebration of LGBTQ+ rights.
