Huons claims first PBA Team League title in six seasons

Huons has claimed the PBA Team League's second-round championship, achieving their first title in six seasons since their establishment in 2021. The team secured a decisive 4-3 victory over Hana Card in a thrilling full-set final match.

This championship marks a significant milestone for Huons, who were considered strong contenders after acquiring star player Kang Dong-gong at the start of the season. Kang Dong-gong lived up to expectations, earning the round's MVP award with an impressive 9 wins and 4 losses, averaging 2.000. His performance, along with contributions from Vietnamese player Ngo Dinh Nai and women's team ace Kim Se-yeon, propelled Huons to the top.

The team's dominant performance in the second round, where they went undefeated, also makes them the second team in league history to achieve a round sweep, following NH Nonghyup Card. Huons is currently on a 10-game winning streak, including a victory in the final match of the first round, and has secured a playoff spot for the season.

Team captain Choi Seong-won expressed his elation after clinching the victory, stating, "I didn't know this day would come, and I'm so moved. I think we got a good result because my teammates played so well." He also expressed ambition, aiming to break NH Nonghyup Card's record of 14 consecutive wins by reaching 15 wins, confidently adding, "I don't think we're going to lose right now." PBA Team League's third round is scheduled to continue in Pohang, Gyeongbuk, in September.
