Husband Allegedly Takes Over 30 Cats from Cattery Amid Divorce Dispute

A Ragdoll cattery in Taiwan's coastal Taichung region is at the center of a dispute after the owner's husband allegedly took more than 30 cats during a contentious divorce. The cattery's owner reported the incident to the police on July 18, expressing deep concern for the animals' well-being.

According to the owner, her husband, identified by the surname Cai, removed the cats from the cattery in the early hours of July 18 without her consent. She suspects he may have taken them to the Tainan area. The owner's distress stems from her husband's alleged history of domestic violence, and she fears for the cats' safety, particularly after he had previously demanded she remove them from the premises.

The Qingshui Police Precinct confirmed they received the report of the alleged cat theft. Authorities have identified the individual involved and plan to summon Cai for questioning. The case will be forwarded to the Taichung District Prosecutors Office for further investigation. The Taichung City Animal Protection Office has also been notified to assist in the inquiry. Police emphasized their commitment to thoroughly investigating illegal activities and urged the public to report any suspicious incidents to help maintain community safety and protect property.
