Huwei Ghost Festival Peaks Aug. 27 with Traffic Controls and Star-Studded Concert

The Huwei Ghost Festival, known for its scale alongside Keelung's festival in the north, is gearing up for its main event this Thursday, August 27. The celebration promises a spectacular display with thousands of tables set for offerings across seven major areas, alongside impressive ice sculptures and firecracker displays.

Adding to the festivities, the township office will host a "Carnival Night" at the town's sports stadium. The event is set to feature performances by popular artists including Nine One One, Kao Hsiuan, and Lai Ming-wei. Organizers anticipate a crowd of over ten thousand attendees, highlighting the event's significant draw.

To ensure smooth traffic flow and public safety, the Huwei Police Precinct has announced extensive traffic control measures. These will be implemented at key intersections, including Guangfu Road and Hongdao Road, and Xinsheng Road and Zhongshan Road. Drivers heading towards Xiliao or Tuku are advised to use alternative routes via Gongzhuan Road and Beiping Road, or the outer ring road connecting to Provincial Highway 78.

The Huwei Ghost Festival is renowned for its well-preserved ritualistic culture, diverse offering characteristics, and collaborative cross-district model, earning it the reputation of being the "Southern Huwei" counterpart to Keelung's northern festival. The police department will also enhance patrols to prevent theft and robbery, and strictly enforce regulations against dangerous driving, unlicensed driving, and noise violations, ensuring a safe and orderly celebration for all attendees.
