Hyundai Foundation selects 8 researchers for 'CMK Fellowship' to foster future tech leaders

The Hyundai Chung Mong-Koo Foundation has launched its 'CMK Science and Technology Fellow' program, selecting eight promising researchers who will receive significant support to advance their work.

The fellowship aims to nurture future leaders in science and technology, equipping them to tackle pressing societal issues and bolster South Korea's national competitiveness. The selected fellows represent a diverse range of critical fields, including environmental engineering, life sciences, mechanical engineering, and information technology.

Each fellow will receive substantial research grants, with recipients pursuing studies domestically eligible for up to 20 million won annually, while those studying abroad can receive up to 70 million won per year. This funding is provided for a maximum of two years. Beyond financial support, the foundation will also facilitate quarterly academic exchanges and mentoring programs to foster collaboration and professional development.

According to the foundation, the initiative is a response to the growing recognition that scientific and technological prowess is crucial for national survival. With global challenges like climate change and resource depletion mounting, the program seeks to provide these talented individuals with the stability and resources needed to dedicate themselves fully to their research.
