London Crawlle had missed the deadline for an NCB Foundation scholarship, but the 17-year-old submitted her application anyway.

That decision formed part of a series of major choices that shaped the Bridgeport High School graduate’s year.

Crawlle had originally planned to become a nurse. While exploring other careers, however, she became interested in cybersecurity. She was drawn to technology, watched artificial intelligence transform the world, and began to imagine herself helping protect the systems that people and organisations increasingly rely on.
