'I have not supported this' – Kulbergs demands review of bridge federation funding

Latvian Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs has initiated a formal request for a comprehensive review of state funding directed towards the Latvian Bridge Federation. He has instructed the Ministry of Education and Science (IZM) to promptly furnish all pertinent documents related to the allocation of funds.

Specifically, Kulbergs seeks a legally sound explanation for a grant of 147,366.52 euros awarded to the Latvian Bridge Federation. This sum was reportedly provided after the conclusion of two bridge championships that received state support. The prime minister's inquiry is part of a broader examination of 225,000 euros allocated for seven international sports events.

Kulbergs stated, "I have not supported this," indicating his lack of prior knowledge or approval of the specific funding decision. The Cabinet of Ministers informed the "Delfi" portal about the prime minister's directive, highlighting the scrutiny now being placed on the distribution of public funds for sports.
