‘I’m ready to submit myself for investigation into extortion allegation’ - Afenyo-Markin in Parliament

Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the Minority Leader in Ghana's Parliament, has declared his readiness to cooperate fully with any investigation into an alleged extortion. He stated his willingness to submit himself to the Ghana Police Service and the Office of the Special Prosecutor if summoned.

Afenyo-Markin expressed his conviction that the individuals who made the allegation would demonstrate the courage to formally report him to the relevant investigative bodies. "I expect that if they muster the courage and report that I have extorted from them and I am invited, I shall submit myself to every investigation so that eventually my name is cleared," he said.

Addressing the House during a parliamentary recall session, Afenyo-Markin emphasized his commitment to taking the "high moral ground" by submitting to legal processes. In parallel, he has initiated legal action, filing suits against the Chief Executive of the Ghana Gold Board, Sammy Gyamfi, and the Multimedia Group Limited at the Accra High Court. Additionally, he has filed a suit against Eric Agyei and Peace FM at the Achimota Circuit Court.

"I have every confidence that in the fullness of time, the courts will make the appropriate determination on these matters," Afenyo-Markin stated, underscoring his belief in the judicial system to resolve the dispute.
