Daniel, a former governor of the state, made his exclusion known through a video circulating online, where he addressed supporters from his campaign bus.

Daniel asserted that any decisions made during the meeting would be null and void, emphasizing his dissatisfaction with the party leadership's action. The meeting was convened as an emergency APC Ogun East caucus gathering, with invitations reportedly sent to deputy governors, past and serving local government chairmen, councilors, and members of both state and national assemblies.
