I was close to my best in Rabat – Amusan

World record holder Tobi Amusan feels she delivered a performance close to her best at the Rabat Diamond League on Sunday, where she not only won the women's 100m hurdles but also set a new meeting record. This victory marks her first in the Diamond League series this season.

I am really pleased with the result. To be honest, I felt like I executed the race close to the best of my ability. Winning was the main objective and a Meeting Record is a fantastic bonus.

Amusan clocked 12.28 seconds, improving on her previous meeting record and equalling her season's best time. This performance places her joint-third fastest in her career. Her personal best and world record remains 12.12 seconds, set at the 2022 World Championships, followed by 12.24 seconds from last year's Paris Diamond League.

The atmosphere in Rabat is incredible and the crowd was absolutely electrifying. I have competed here several times and the support is always special.

Having secured her fourth consecutive African title before the Diamond League season began, Amusan has shown consistent improvement. She aims to stay healthy for upcoming competitions, including the Diamond League final and the Commonwealth Games later this year. As a three-time Diamond League champion (2021, 2022, 2023), she is focused on reclaiming the title.
