Croatian actress Ecija Ojdanić recently shared a powerful childhood memory on Instagram, recounting a near-fatal fire incident that occurred during the war in Split. The event, which took place the night before the Feast of the Assumption, has shaped her life and led to a yearly vow to the Virgin Mary of Sinj. Ojdanić explained that during a wartime power outage, she lit a candle to read before bed. The next thing she knew, she woke up engulfed in flames.

Describing the terrifying scene, Ojdanić wrote, "The mattress is burning, the pillow I was sleeping on, the book, half the bed... and me, nothing... not a hair on my head, not an eyelash singed." She considers her survival without a single injury a true miracle. This profound experience has led her family to express their gratitude to the Virgin Mary of Sinj every year on her feast day, with either her mother or herself attending Mass.

This year, Ojdanić chose to honor her vow in a unique and physically demanding way. Instead of attending Mass, she embarked on a nearly 35-kilometer run from her hometown of Kljake to Sinj. She documented her journey, which lasted nearly four hours, sharing videos of her preparations, the run through the Dalmatian landscape, and her arrival in Sinj, where she was met by family members. She described the feat as "Never harder, never more beautiful," calling it a "wonderful spiritual journey."
