Iberojet to launch direct El Salvador-Spain route in September

The Spanish airline Iberojet is set to launch a new direct route connecting El Salvador and Spain on September 13, 2026. The service will offer two weekly flights, linking Madrid and Barcelona with San Salvador, according to an announcement by the Spanish embassy in San Salvador.

This new air connection is expected to significantly reinforce travel links between the two nations. The Spanish diplomatic mission in the Central American country stated that the route will stimulate tourism, economic, and social exchanges. It aims to provide more travel options for the Spanish community residing in El Salvador and the large Salvadoran population living in Spain and other European countries.

Spain's Ambassador to El Salvador, Sonia Álvarez Cibanal, highlighted that Iberojet's arrival signifies confidence from Spanish businesses in El Salvador and will further bolster bilateral relations. She emphasized that the expanded travel options will facilitate greater mobility for individuals, businesses, and institutions, thereby promoting tourism in both directions.

El Salvador's Minister of Tourism, Morena Valdez, described the new direct routes to Madrid and Barcelona as a historic step in the country's international positioning strategy. She believes this enhanced connectivity strengthens ties with Europe, eases tourism and business exchanges, and invites more travelers to discover the ongoing transformation within El Salvador.
