Nigeria's aviation sector has achieved a landmark success, soaring to a 91.4% safety score in the recent International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) audit. This exceptional performance marks a dramatic turnaround from the 70% score three years ago, a figure that had previously cast a shadow over the nation's aviation standards.

The International Civil Aviation Organization today concluded its audit of the Nigerian aviation industry.

Minister for Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, proudly announced the results, highlighting the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the driving force behind this transformation. He emphasized the deliberate policies and unwavering support provided to the aviation industry, which have empowered agencies to implement crucial initiatives.

The last time this audit took place was 2023. So this is an audit that takes place every three years. In 2023, Nigeria scored 70%, which is considered very, very low in terms of safety.

This achievement is not merely a statistical victory; it signifies Nigeria's commitment to international safety standards and enhances the global reputation of its airlines. The ICAO's satisfaction with the progress underscores the effectiveness of the reforms and the dedication of the aviation authorities, positioning Nigeria as a leader in aviation safety within the continent.
