Identities of 5 Victims in Hanwha Aerospace Explosion Confirmed

Authorities have confirmed the identities of all five victims who perished in the explosion at the Hanwha Aerospace facility in Daejeon. The National Forensic Service completed DNA analysis, officially identifying the deceased and paving the way for funeral arrangements.

The victims include a range of employees, notably two contract workers in their late twenties. These individuals had reportedly joined the company concurrently in February, highlighting the tragic loss of young talent. The group also included a long-term employee with over two decades of service, underscoring the diverse impact of the incident on the company's workforce.

Following the DNA identification, the bodies are being prepared for release to their families. Three victims are currently at Daejeon Yuseong Seon Hospital, while the remaining two are at Chungnam National University Hospital. The police confirmed that the forensic results have been provided to the bereaved families, and the process of handing over the bodies is underway.

The explosion occurred on June 1 at approximately 10:59 a.m. within Building 56, a cleaning facility at the Hanwha Aerospace Daejeon plant. The investigation into the cause of the blast is ongoing, with the confirmation of victim identities being a critical step in the aftermath of the tragedy.
