IDF arrests dozens in West Bank raids after deadly clash

Israeli troops launched extensive raids across multiple Palestinian towns and villages in the West Bank overnight, detaining dozens of individuals in the aftermath of a fatal gun battle that claimed the lives of two Israelis and four Palestinians. The operation heavily targeted the village of Tell, the site of Friday's deadly clash, with soldiers conducting searches of homes belonging to the deceased Palestinians.

According to Walid Zidan, the mayor of Tell, approximately 70 villagers were detained and questioned at a temporary interrogation center. While about 10 to 12 have since been released, house raids and army patrols continued, restricting movement within the village. The IDF confirmed the raid on Tell, stating that soldiers detained 11 wanted Palestinians and questioned another 80. Funerals for the four slain Palestinians were permitted later Saturday under strict IDF supervision.

Overall, the military reported apprehending more than 70 wanted Palestinians throughout the West Bank during the night. In the Jenin region, troops searched over 300 locations and captured several individuals linked to Hamas and others allegedly planning attacks with explosive devices. Similar operations in the Ramallah, Tulkarem, and southern West Bank areas resulted in the detention of additional wanted Palestinians, including Hamas members and alleged arms dealers. Checkpoints and gate closures were also implemented across the West Bank, according to witnesses. The IDF had previously announced a reinforcement of its forces in the West Bank and canceled weekend leave for troops.
