IDF destroys home of terrorist who killed two Israeli officers

The Israeli military and Border Police demolished the West Bank home of a terrorist who killed two Israeli officers in an overnight operation. The home destroyed belonged to the individual responsible for the deaths of Maj. Yuval Ezra, 27, and Capt. (res.) Benayahu Mellet, 32.

The two officers were killed on July 24 during an attack near Gilad Farm, a settlement southwest of Nablus. Mellet was part of the local emergency response team and served in the reserves, while Ezra was an Artillery Corps commander who had returned to reinforce the area amid heightened military readiness.

An investigation into the military's response to the attack, released last week, identified significant operational and command failures. While soldiers and local security personnel were commended for their courage in preventing further casualties, the investigation found they engaged the rapidly escalating incident with insufficient forces and an incomplete understanding of the situation. Serious failures in command and medical evacuation were also noted.

During the confrontation near the village of Tell, southwest of Nablus, four Palestinians from the Ramadan family were also killed. The IDF stated that Palestinian attackers were killed in the exchange, but the investigation's findings did not detail the specific roles of each individual or the circumstances of their deaths.
