IDF has killed at least around 420 Gazan terrorists since Oct. 2025 ceasefire, 'Post' learns

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have killed at least around 420 Gazan terrorists since the ceasefire agreement in October 2025, The Jerusalem Post has learned. This figure suggests a significant portion of those killed in Gaza over the past nine months may have been combatants.

Considering Hamas's reported killing of its own population to regain control and UN estimates of around 1,000 Gazans killed, the percentage of Gazans killed by the IDF since the ceasefire is likely less than 50% civilians. This contrasts with earlier periods of the war, where civilian casualties were estimated to be higher.

Neither the Israeli government nor the IDF has released comprehensive figures detailing the number of Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad terrorists killed. However, available data indicates that from 2023-2024, civilians likely constituted at least 60% of those killed by the IDF. This percentage appears to have decreased significantly in 2025.

Monthly breakdowns of terrorist deaths since the ceasefire show May as the highest month with 57 terrorists killed, while June saw the lowest at 36, averaging in the 40s. These figures include both high-level officers and low-level fighters attempting to breach security lines.

The IDF has expanded its control over Gaza, now encompassing approximately 70% of the territory, compared to 53% in October 2025, aiming to pressure Hamas into disarmament.
