IDF says over 70 Hezbollah sites hit as troops advance near south Lebanon’s Nabatieh

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced Saturday that its forces struck over 70 Hezbollah sites in southern Lebanon. The targets included rocket launchers and buildings allegedly used by the group to advance attacks. This action follows the army's issuance of evacuation warnings for more than 20 locations in the region. The military also stated that it killed several Hezbollah operatives identified in areas of southern Lebanon where troops were operating.

Lebanon's National News Agency (NNA) reported airstrikes in several areas covered by the evacuation warnings, specifically mentioning the villages of Rihan and Sujud, which are located near Nabatieh. Nabatieh is considered a significant stronghold for Hezbollah. In a separate incident, the Lebanese army reported that one of its soldiers sustained serious injuries in an Israeli drone strike in southern Lebanon. According to the Lebanese Armed Forces, the soldier was initially targeted near a hospital in Nabatieh but was unharmed. He was subsequently targeted again on a road between Kfar Roummane and Nabatieh, resulting in serious injuries.

Lebanese media indicated that the Lebanese army withdrew from its positions in the southern town of Kfar Tebnit, near Nabatieh, as the IDF advanced in the area. Footage shared by Lebanese media shows Lebanese Armed Forces armored vehicles departing from Kfar Tebnit. In another statement, the IDF detailed the killing of seven Hezbollah operatives who were operating out of a tunnel in southern Lebanon earlier in the week. The military claims reservists from the 551st Paratroopers Brigade identified two Hezbollah gunman cells emerging from the tunnel, which was allegedly used for storing weapons and carrying out attacks. The operatives were reportedly killed by airstrikes, artillery shelling, and explosive drones. The army stated that weapons and equipment were found near the tunnel afterward. The IDF also reported on Saturday that a suspected Hezbollah drone struck near Israeli forces operating in southern Lebanon, causing no injuries.
