‘If Terry G fights me, he will rise again’ — Portable challenges singer to boxing match

Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, widely known as Portable, has thrown down a gauntlet to fellow artist Terry G, proposing a celebrity boxing match that he believes would reignite the veteran singer's career. The challenge was issued during an interview on Channels Television's Rubbin’ Minds program, where Portable elaborated on his increasing engagement with celebrity boxing and his future fight aspirations.

When prompted about his next potential opponent, the artist behind "Zazuu" immediately named Terry G. "I want to fight Terry G. If Terry G fights me, one-on-one in boxing, he will rise again. People will remember him again," Portable declared. He readily agreed when the interviewer suggested his intention was to help Terry G's career through the proposed fight, underscoring his readiness for the contest.

Portable, 32, also expressed his eagerness for a rematch with skit maker Carter Efe, who handed him his first defeat in the celebrity boxing arena in May 2026. "I will go again with Carter Efe. I will beat him," he vowed. Additionally, Portable stated his plans to return to London after concluding another boxing engagement with actor Charles Okocha.

The singer asserted that his participation in celebrity boxing has significantly contributed to the sport's burgeoning popularity in Nigeria, stating, "I used my music career to build Nigerian boxing." Addressing rumors of a strained relationship with rapper Olamide, Portable vehemently denied any fallout, insisting that the YBNL boss remains a key figure in his success. "I did not fight Olamide. He’s my helper," he affirmed.

Adding to his bold pronouncements, Portable predicted that no Nigerian artist would achieve a Grammy Award win without his collaboration. "No Nigerian artiste will win a Grammy without featuring me," he stated. Portable has emerged as a prominent figure in Nigerian celebrity boxing since his debut in December 2023, securing victories against actor Charles Okocha and rapper Speed Darlington before his defeat to Carter Efe.
