Igboho launches security outfit to combat South West insecurity

Yoruba nation agitator Sunday Adeyemo, widely known as Igboho, has officially launched an indigenous security outfit named "Iru Eku Security Network." The group aims to eradicate criminals, including terrorists and bandits, who have been terrorizing the Yorubaland region.

Iru Ekun is a security network that I established. It has been duly registered, submitted to the President, and officially approved. I want to call on all Yoruba people to work together so that we can flush criminals out of our forests and reserves. We must not allow them to continue operating among us.

In a video circulating online, Igboho announced that the network has been fully registered and approved. He called for unity among the Yoruba people to drive out criminals from their forests and reserves, stressing the need to prevent them from operating freely. Igboho also alleged that some politicians are attempting to politicize the security situation, drawing parallels to past attempts to destabilize the government using Boko Haram.

Some people want to politicise this issue, but we must not allow that. The same thing happened during the administration of Goodluck Jonathan, when Boko Haram was used to destabilise the government. Now, some people want to create insecurity again to destabilise the government of Bola Ahmed Tinubu and damage it politically.

Igboho asserted that the Yoruba people will not allow such destabilization efforts against the current administration, emphasizing the protection of their land and future. He stated that terrorists should not be allowed to use their territory and that politics should not be used to weaponize terrorism. He clarified that the initiative is not a religious war but a focused effort against terrorism, kidnapping, and the destruction of the future generations.

But we Yoruba people will not allow that to happen because Tinubu is our own, and we must protect our land and our future. We must not allow terrorists to use our land. We must not allow politics to weaponise terrorism against our people.

The launch follows recent coordinated attacks where scores of teachers and students were abducted from schools in the Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State. Igboho invited anyone willing to contribute to community protection to join the voluntary security network.

This is not a religious war. We must set religion aside and focus on the real issue, terrorism, kidnapping, and the destruction of the future of our children. Anyone found operating suspiciously in our forests and reserves should be treated as a criminal. Iru Ekun Security Network is a voluntary security network, and anyone who is willing to join in the effort to protect our communities is welcome to join.
